  • Mayor George Heartwell, City of Grand Rapids
Mayor Heartwell, acknowledged for his current tenure with the City of Grand Rapids, has led recent efforts to implement a variety of environmental measures within the metropolitan area. From the purchasing of renewable resource energy to the usage of alternative fuels in city vehicles, Heartwell has shifted the focus upon cutting-edge energy conservation measures. Grand Rapids has since been recognized as a "Center of Expertise" in sustainability by the United Nations for its leading efforts in becoming more sustainable.
  • Mayor Bob Dixson, City of Greensburg, Kansas
Recognized nationally for his work in facilitating the 'green' rebuilding of a town torn apart by a tornado in May 2007, Mayor Dixson will detail his efforts to sustainably transform the city of Greensburg. These initiatives include reducing the city's carbon footprint through renewable energy and alternative means of transportation, recreating a vital downtown and emphasizing walkability, greening buildings through stricter codes and providing economic and social equality for its citizens.
  • Doug Farr, Author, Founder of Farr Associates Architecture and Urban Design, Inc.
As an author and founder of a leading sustainable architectural and planning firm that has designed three LEED Platinum rated buildings in Chicago, Farr understands the necessity of sustainable urbanism within today's community and surrounding nature in mind.
